It was a great week, but I will admit it took a lot out of me. I barely left the couch all day Sunday even though it was a beautiful day.
In the program Saturday night's screening is listed as Best of the Fest Shorts and Killer was in the line up so on my website that is exactly what I am going to put. Even though one of the organizers said the program title was misleading and it was more best of the shortest films. They wanted to program as many as they could in 2 hours so nothing over 10 minutes was considered. They managed 19 films. Still, they were predominantly 1s and 2s. I saw many good films I hadn't seen before. So I don't at all mind saying it's a best of showing. That doesn't seem unrepresentative to me.
Plus it got me another 200 people to see my film. And I definitely got a good "Ohh" when the knife appeared at the end.
Then I went to the awards ceremony where I did not win anything. Half the films that won I hadn't seen. However those I had seen that won things were very very good. I don't mind not getting an award if those that do I consider 1s. The fact that I was in competition for a jury prize at all is pretty cool.
I hung out with Ed my new teacher friend for a bit before and after the awards. I was pitching him my doc idea about the terns and we were brainstorming how to find the story inside the topic. He agreed that if nothing else it had potential to be beautiful and would play well at the assorted Cape festivals.
Left terns, right terns or U terns?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you were thinking of making a documentary. That's cool!
