I got my feet wet in the ocean yesterday. It was rather cold.
I've been a bit busy lately, but with nothing particularly to write home about. I was in NYC for a couple of days. Mostly it confirmed for me that I like my quiet life in Harwich much better. Though it was very cool to see Nina's film in a real theater. If you ever get a chance to see
Parables of War, I highly recommend it.
Here's the trailer.
I spent a day at Lake George with Jim and family. We tossed Louis off the boat to see if he would swim - not really tossed, more like gently lowered him into. He swam over to the girls, but I think mostly he was mad at me.
Then Mom and Dad came here for this week. At first we were just being productive: cleaning all the windows, cleaning out the gutters, mowing the lawn, etc. But once that was done we had some fun. Played golf one day, went to the beach yesterday. Had Mary and Bob over for dinner last night. Went to the sunset one evening.
It's all been very nice, but now I need to get busy again. Today I've been downloading and updating my editing software (FCP, Media Composer, and the entire Creative Cloud) in preparation for summer/fall teaching. Someone at Future Media Concepts got in touch with me today about teaching a couple FCPX classes, and also I really need to start prepping for the editing class at Fitchburg in the fall. Being ready to teach Avid will take some work on my part.
So there's that and also Enid. The beach we were at yesterday was the Nauset Light Beach so I took a lot of pictures because that is where Enid finds her buoys. Really it's very unlikely you'd find as many as she does, but it's fiction after all. Maybe the ghost ships are sending them to her to lure her out.
Here, have a bunch of pictures.

One wonders why I buy Louis a bed. |
|
One of the signs of summer: the red boat is back in the river. |
|
Louis's first swim. I dropped him in the water and he went right to Grace and then back to me. I'm not sure if he liked it. I kind of think not. But I am fascinated how humans find it challenging to learn to swim, but a dog who has never been in more water than an inch in the tub will immediately know what to do. |

Mom taking a picture of me taking a picture of Mom. I like the new stairs at the Nauset Beach. |

Just after sunset at Cold Storage beach. |
|
Just before sunset at Cold Storage beach. I like the reflections in the sand. |
|
Mom watching the sunset. Nice light. |
|
And a selfie with the phone. Wouldn't know we're related. The color is better with the real camera. |
|
Nauset light and beach. This is where Enid finds her buoys. |
|
Nauset light. There is no way you'd see the light from any of the houses in Eastham where Enid could conceivably live. |
|
It is a very nice beach. |
