First we went to Beacon Hill. It's visually perfect. Though the streets and sidewalks are very narrow and if we were to really shoot there we'd need to close the street entirely. So that would end up being extraordinarily expensive. Even if we raise enough money everything is a trade off. Like, if I really earned $10k (which I'm not expecting, but you never know) I could probably pay for it, but then I couldn't do a professional sound mix, or hire musicians for recording the score.
Last we went to Brookline, which is close, not Boston, and had several buildings that were promising. The red one in the photos has a date above the door that I'm assuming is when it was built: 1904. I do have a location scout, though we had one meeting and I haven't heard anything from her since. I gave her my contact info and didn't realize until after that I never got hers. I want to find her again and see if I can get her working on this neighborhood for me. Or, you know, find a new one who will do that so that I don't have to. I particularly want permission from the building owner, and then an arrangement with one of the basement apartments to see if we can tap into their power. $100 to run an extension cord out the window? I bet they'll say yes.
